Prime Minister, Lawrence Gonzi has ended all the speculation and spin that has been appearing in the media these last few weeks and months and did exactly what he said he would do and retain a lean Cabinet without any drastic changes.

Once again, he has shown his strength of character and that he is in full command of the situation both at government and party level.

He has also given a strong message to a few members of his backbench indicating he would not give in to pressure unless he is convinced otherwise. His choice of candidates to represent Malta in Europe are second to none and, no doubt, in future appointments he shall continue to act accordingly and in the best interest of Malta, as he had shown when he nominated George Abela for President of the Republic. He has been proven right again this time round and will continue to do so in the future.
