Women's golf 2003 commitments started with an LGU Medal round. In the Silver Division, the winner was M. Woodward, in front of T. Davies. The Bronze Division was won by M. Micallef who had her handicap cut. A. Thompson was second.

Twenty-three golfers then took part in the Molly Hamilton Rose Trophy, a competition contested since 1975. The winner here was M. Deans.

In mid-January, 32 ladies turned out for the Fifth Avenue, Stableford, competition. Monica Borain has sponsored this popular event since 1999.

Final placings: 1. A. Thompson 38; 2. K. Chopping 37; 3. Y. Cuschieri 36.

Meanwhile, another Stableford competition was played at Marsa. The winner in Division One was M. Borg with 39 points, ahead of J. Scicluna. Y. Galea, with 39 points, was top in Division Two.

The last competition of the month was 'Blind Hole' - a team competition.

The best two Stableford scores on each hole were recorded. Alex Mangion selected the 'holes' as the competition was underway. Team Van den Bossche were the winners, Team Woodward second and Team Borg third.
