Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said this morning that Sai Mizzi's contract, published by the prime minister yesterday, showed the PN was right when it said she had a package of €13,000 monthly.

Late yesterday, the Nationalist Party said the contract  confirmed that Sai Mizzi, the Energy Minister's wife, has a pay packet of €13,000 per month for her work as Malta Enterprise envoy in China.

Dr Muscat tabled the contract and that of two ambassadors to China nominated by the former government, and said the pay and conditions were the same.

"We were right. Konrad Mizzi's wife gets €13,000 a month ambassadorial package in China. Being a minister's wife gets you places in Socialist Malta," Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said in a tweet.

A PN spokesman said that Ms Mizzi would, over a period of three years, get €220,000 as her basic salary. 

She also has a once-only settlement allowance of €8,500, a representation allowance of €10,000 over three years, an allowance for children of €9,000, an allowance for the children's education which may not exceed €111,000 over three years, a residence allowance conservatively estimated at €45,000 over three years, a car and petrol allowance conservatively estimated at €30,000 over three years, a driver, a phone allowance of €18,000 over three years and other allowances to cover medical care and wardrobe.

There were also provisions for travel between Malta and China for all the family five times estimated at €480,000 in three years.

Ms Mizzi also paid less tax than the norm, the PN said.
