Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is to convene a meeting of the Security Committee tomorrow after a request by Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil, a spokesman for the government said.

Dr Busuttil wrote to the prime minister earlier today seeking a meeting of the committee to discuss the administration and policies of the Security Service.

The Security Committee is the body that overseas the Security Service.

Dr Busuttil said he was making this request in view of the admission by Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia that he and his Chief of Staff had attended and participated in interviews of those persons transferred to the service.

This behaviour by the minister was unacceptable, dangerous and undermined the rule of law and the confidence which the people should have in the Service, Dr Busuttil said.
