Opposition leader Simon Busuttil this morning made his first-ever visit to the Palumbo shipyard, where he noted that since the privatisation of the former Malta Shipyards, Palumbo had invested 70 million euros in the Malta facility.

Dr Busuttil stressed that the maritime sector remains an essential element of the Maltese economy. This included both ship registration and related service as well as ship repair.

He also underscored the importance the PN gives to workers in all activities.

In a reaction, the Labour Party said Dr Busuttil had failed to mention the inconveniences being suffered by the people because of the Palumbo shipyard activities, such as grit blasting.

The PL said the Opposition leader was showing he was working against the interests of the people of the south.
