Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said today that this year was a turning point for the Nationalist Party, both administratively and in its contact with the people.

Speaking in a Radio 101 interview, Dr Busuttil said the overnight sitting in Parliament last week was symptomatic of what is happening in Malta, as the government is unmasked and its deception revealed. At the same time, the Opposition was showing itself to be more effective, giving a strong voice to the people where it mattered.

Dr Busuttil said the overnight sitting was surreal, with the government bent on transferring virgin land and other properties before the House rose for Christmas. Virgin land which belonged to all the people was being transferred for an American University which was neither American, nor a university.

The PN wanted to restore honesty in politics, Dr Busuttil said. It was rebuilding itself on policies and commitments based on the truth and transparency.

"That is what the people want. The people are losing faith in politics when they see what the government is doing," he said.

Dr Busuttil underlined the importance of the good governance document issued by the PN and said this would continue to be explained to the people in the coming weeks.
