US investigators are trying to determine why a small business jet crashed into an apartment building in north-east Ohio.

A mass-fatality team is working to recover the bodies of victims and sift through the wreckage.

The 10-seat Hawker H25 jet whose owner said it was carrying nine people crashed into the Akron apartment building on Tuesday afternoon. It took off from Dayton and planned to land at Akron Fulton International Airport, about two miles from the crash site.

Authorities say no one aboard the plane survived, but they have not confirmed the number of people on the plane.

No one was inside the four-unit apartment building or another home that caught fire.
