Internet use by business is on the rise, with nearly all those employing 10 or more people having a computer at their disposal as well as internet access, according to the National Statistics Office.

All enterprises with more than 10 employees operating within the financial sector had access to computer and the internet and more than 98 per cent had access to broadband connection.

The majority of enterprises that employed over 10 full-time workers had the facility of a local area network. Results show 30 and 29 per cent of these enterprises made use of extranet and intranet, respectively.

Online banking and financial services were used by 81 per cent of the targeted enterprises, which had internet access.

E-government services were utilised by 83 per cent of enterprises using the internet. Obtaining information and downloading forms from government websites was the most sought-after online service.

Nearly 70 per cent of enterprises using the internet also had a website or a webpage.
