International credit conference
The European Credit and Financial Congress (ECFC) will be holding its inaugural event at the Corinthia San Ġorġ on May 6-8, sponsored by Malta Enterprise among others.
Its conference is aimed at the credit, risk and financial departments of manufacturers, distributors, software publishers, retailers, e-tailers and financial service providers in the computer, communications and consumer electronics/home automation industries.
With confirmed attendance from more than 50 leading companies, the audience will include some of Europe's top credit and financial officers.
"While many industry events tackle fund raising or the wedding of venture capitalists to start-ups, ECFC focuses solely on the issues of managing credit and finance for existing concerns," the organisers said.
"Special attention will be given to web commerce. The transition to the digital economy creates new ways customers in each part of the distribution channel can pay, inspires alternatives to credit cards and promotes the development of mobile cash. Conducting safe, secure and user-friendly e-commerce is one of today's main financial and credit concerns."

Finacom advises on $142 million loan
Guardamanġia-based firm Finacom Investment House Ltd acted as advisor to Agrenco Group in Brazil to arrange a four different secured prepayment facilities amounting to $142 million.
The loan will finance the warehousing and processing of non-GMO Brazilian soybeans, soy-meal and soy-oil for the 2008/9 crop.
On the advice of Finacom, Agrenco's subsidiaries mandated WestLB AG to act as sole arranger and lender.
"The success of this loan refinancing demonstrates the continuing international banking confidence in Finacom and its clients and in the Brazilian economy," Finacom's chief executive Patrick Zrinzo said.
Finacom is the financial and treasury arm of Agrenco Group, which is based in Brazil.
Volksbank appointments
Michael Smutny was appointed non-executive member on the board of Volksbank Malta and non-executive director for Investkredit International Bank plc Malta. Herbert Skok, managing director of Volksbank Malta, was also appointed managing director of Investkredit International Bank plc Malta.
Werner Wess, the man who brought Volksbank to Malta, was re-appointed to the executive board of Volksbank for a further three years while Winston V. Zahra remains chairman.
