The controversial bus lane in Gżira is not only causing endless traffic jams and frustration to drivers but also led to a stabbing incident on Saturday evening, leaving a Turkish man fighting for his life.

Sources said the stabbing followed an argument between the Turk and a Libyan man married to a Maltese woman over the use of the bus lane. The incident happened at about 8.45pm.

The police said an argument got out of hand and the 40-year-old Turkish man, resident in San Ġwann, was stabbed with a sharp and pointed instrument. His condition was described as critical.

The sources said the Libyan man is expected to be charged in court today.
