A 33-year-old bus driver from Zabbar was hospitalised this morning after he was injured in a crash in Rabat. His condition is not yet known.

The police said the accident took place at a roundabout in Triq it-Tghabija corner with Vjal il-Haddiemm, Rabat, at 7.45am. The bus, on which there were two passengers, was headed  to Bahrija from Mdina when it crashed with a delivery van that was being driven by a 25-year-old man from Birkirkara that was on the way to Rabat from Mtarfa.

A passenger was with the delivery van driver.

Civil Protection Department personnel had to be called to help get the driver out of the bus cabin. He was then transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

No one else was injured.

In a statement, Malta Public Transport said it was investigating the incident.
