A 46-year-old bus driver was fined €5,000 after he was found guilty of the involuntary homicide of Ernest Micallef on January 3, 2010 in Qrendi in a head on collision.

Magistrate Carol Peralta said that he took into consideration the fact that the victim, who had been speeding, had also contributed to the accident. However, bus driver Nazzareno Vassallo should have been more careful.

In the accident, Mr Micallef, who had been driving a Peugeot Partner, had fractured his skull. This led to his death.

Mr Vassallo was also ordered to pay half the amount of the damage caused to both vehicles.
