Arriva yesterday denied interfering with its employees’ rights to join a union of their choice, following claims made by Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin.

“Arriva Malta respects and values its employees and has never, nor will it ever, intimidate or coerce its employees in any way, least of all interfere with or deny its employees’ rights to join a union of their choosing,” the company said.

The unionaid it had information that a number of workers were being intimidated by the management because they were joining it.

“This is unacceptable. Every worker has the right to join a union of their choice and not one chosen by the company’s management,” the UĦM said.

It added it would take all steps to protect the workers’ basic rights.

Meanwhile, the General Workers’ Union said it gave Arriva a proposal for a new roster system so that workers would not suffer.
