A burst sewage main pipe under the recently-inaugurated Coast Road has led to emergency road works.

The incident, first reported yesterday, has led to an outflow at Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq and a warning by the Environmental Health Directorate against bathing at the dog-friendly beach.

Information signs indicating the area have been set up.

Transport Malta said yesterday that as a result of the burst pipe, part of the overlying Coast Road was being damaged by the pressurised drainage.

Works on the road from Splash and Fun up towards the roundabout were in progress this morning.

"Transport Malta is closely monitoring the situation and overseeing the works by the Water Services Corporation in order to limit the damage as much as possible and ensure restoration of the road structure and surface to their pristine condition," TM said yesterday.
