A 30-year-old Frenchman was grievously injured yesterday when he was hit by burning liqueur while dining at a restaurant. He is not in a critical condition.

The police said the incident happened at around 8.50 p.m. at a restaurant in Marfa Road, Mellieha.

The chef was cooking in front of some clients when the incident happened. The fire was put out by hotel staff and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance.
