Two armed thieves broke into a Sliema home, tied up its owner and ransacked the place before making their getaway this morning, police said.

The burglary happened on Norfolk Street, with masked thieves reportedly tying up 56-year-old man they found in the residence before going on to steal various items and cash.

After the men left, the man managed to untie himself and call for help. He was not hurt in the incident.

Police said they were alerted at around 9.50am and are investigating further.
