Following my recent letter to the editor titled Malta's Many Neglected Roads, I would like to thank Transport Malta for their prompt action taken to start works on Triq Dolmen, Buġibba which is going at a very slow pace, and St Paul's Street, l/o Naxxar.

However, to my utmost disappointment and definitely to that of other drivers, St Paul's Street simply saw the fresh double white line markings in the middle. Needless to say, once again the cheap short-term paint was used and it will most probably disappear by mid-summer. But at least now the traffic wardens can feel more at ease issuing fines to any vehicles crossing the white lines while we drivers still need to bear this road's miserable condition full of bumps, craters and an uneven surface all over.

Can the authorities please illuminate us as to when this road will finally be resurfaced with tarmac from top to bottom? How much longer do we have to bear these nasty roads in our country? By the way, it's 2010 and we're in the European Union!
