I am against cruelty to animals. Bill Andrews (The Sunday Times, May 23) labels bullfighting as a cruel practice. Then he seems to make allowances for it because the bullfight is preceded by spectacular shows by picadors and toreadors and because the event generates substantial revenue. But does this make it less cruel?
He then argues that the show, bullfight included, is watched and enjoyed not by a single person but by many. To my way of thinking that is precisely what makes it an even more disgusting, abhorrent event.
