A 20-ton bulldozer was confiscated by planning authority enforcement officers after it was used to illegally dump two-metre high piles of rubble and construction material in L-Aħrax, Mellieħa. Huge mounds of rubble were dumped on a watercourse and garigue which had been earmarked for scheduling, the planning authority said.

Meanwhile the officers yesterday used concrete blocks to block off the area, which is public land and covers an area larger than 3,000 square metres.
