Emil Atanasov, 27, a Bulgarian national, was arraigned in court this afternoon and accused of fatally stabbing 27-year-old Serbian Kristic Dragoljub in an apartment in Qawra early yesterday.

Atanasov was taken to court wearing a jacket over a casual top, and a baseball hat. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.

The stabbing followed an argument over loud music which led to the landlord switching off electricity to the property.

Dragoljub was stabbed through the heart with a pocket knife. He managed to stagger out of the apartment and was found on the landing between the first and second floors of the apartment block in Triq il-Merluzz..

Two men from Macedonia witnessed the stabbing and are expected to give evidence.
