Two brothers from Cospicua yesterday pleaded not guilty to trying to break into a house in their hometown and to breaching the conditions of previous releases.

Benny and Brian Muscat, 45 and 43, both unemployed, also denied damaging the front door of the house in Santa Skolastika Street between 9.30 p.m. and 9.45 p.m. on November 6.

They were also accused of breaching the conditions of previous releases, one of which was to remain at home in the evenings. Benny Muscat had to be home by 7 p.m. and his brother had to be indoors by 8 p.m.

Magistrate Edwina Grima denied their request for bail, saying the court was not convinced they could be trusted.

They were therefore remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Fabian Fleri prosecuted.

Lawyer Anthony Cutajar appeared for the accused.
