The British police have requested the extradition of Paul John Newall, a Briton who lives in St Paul's Bay, to face charges in Bristol of having harassed his estranged wife with threatening phone calls.

The Briton, who is a marketing manager in a hotel in Malta, appeared before the Magistrates'' Court this morning following an international arrest warrant issued by Bristol Magistrates' Court.

The man is accused of having threatened and insulted his former wife. He was granted bail until the hearing continues on July 26.

Court documents show that Mr Newall has previous convictions for domestic violence and robbery
