British High Commissioner Louise Stanton recently made her first trip to Gozo.

She first called on Gozo Bishop Mario Grech in Victoria. They discussed a wide range of subjects, including the millennium development goals (aimed at reducing poverty in Africa), and climate change.

Her next meeting was with Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono. Ms Stanton briefed the minister on her priorities.

On her part, the minister spoke on her plans for Gozo, particularly the idea of making Gozo an eco island, a status the Isle of Wight is already working on.

Ms Stanton also visted the Gozo Chamber of Commerce and the British Residents' Association.
