Roque Junior: Bundesliga club Duisburg have signed Brazilian defender Roque Junior on a deal running until the end of the season. The 31-year-old centre-back had been without a club after failing to agree a contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen at the end of last term.

Raul: Former Spain skipper Raul has called for an end to the debate about whether he should be recalled to the national side. "Everyone knows that my desire is to play for Real Madrid and for Spain but it can't always be the case," the 30-year-old striker was quoted as saying. "So instead we should all try to help and forget debates that don't lead us anywhere."

Crouch: Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has said England striker Peter Crouch is not for sale. Crouch has struggled for a regular first team place since the close-season arrival of Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin. "People have been talking about Peter Crouch for two months, but he is our player and we don't want to sell him," Benitez said.

Beckham: Former England captain David Beckham could return after injury today as a substitute in Los Angeles Galaxy's league game against the New York Red Bulls. The 32-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since late August after spraining ligaments in his right knee.
