We have been directed by our client Paul Cardona to refer to the article entitled Privatisation Of Superyachts Facility Re-Launched After Bribery Claims (July 22).

The article in question states that “Finance Minister Tonio Fenech had been presented with allegations there was an attempt by a bidder to bribe one of the government officials at the Privatisation Unit”.

This is in fact the opposite of what happened. Contrary to what was stated in the article, it was our client who had been approached and told “jekk taħsbu fija jien qiegħed f’pożizzjoni li ngħinkom” (if you look after me, I am in a position to help you).

Furthermore, the said article completely omits any reference to our client’s counter protest wherein he reiterated the above.
