Experiencing The Bakers' Tradition is the theme of the eighth edition of the Qormi Bread Festival, scheduled for September 10-12.

The programme of activities includes the opportunity for the public to visit various bakeries in Qormi. The festival will also feature an exhibition at the pastoral centre and a forum on "the family in the shadow of the baker", which will trace how these families' lives have changed over the years.

A treasure hunt for children will also be held around the Qormi bakeries and folklore is being organised around the town.

Maltese bread contributed economically and socially to society, with a potential positive effect also on tourism, said the Opposition's spokesman for tourism Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, who attended the launch of the event yesterday.
