A number of people old and young braved the cold this morning and jumping into the sea raising €15,000 for charity.

The Thomas Smith annually charity swim, which is now in its 12th edition, was started off by 11 years ago by Anton Buttigieg, a manager at Thomas Smith Group.

Around €6,000 were collected last year when swimmers of all ages jumped off the quay below Balluta’s church into the sea.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Sliema local council, the civil protection and St John’s Ambulance and all the proceeds will be donated to the Community Chest Fund.
