Frenchman Fabrice Tiozzo defended his WBA light heavyweight title on Saturday with a sixth-round technical knockout of Dariusz Michalczewski at the Color Line Arena. Tiozzo (47-2) stopped Michalczewski (48-2) at 2:15 of the round, earning some measure of revenge for a loss to the Pole two decades ago at the European Junior Championships in 1986. Also on Saturday, Ukrainian Wladimir Sidorenko (17-0) earned the WBA bantamweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Julio Zarate (21-3) of Mexico. Hungarian Zolt Erdei (22-0) was also a winner, retaining his WBO light heavyweight title with a split decision victory over Argentine Hugo Hernan Garay (23-2).
