The second BOVSL Annual Conference, held recently at the Crowne Plaza in Sliema, was attended by over 80 employees from the Bank of Valletta Group who are involved in investment services.

The conference was opened by Joseph F.X. Zahra, chairman of the BoV Group, who said that, three years in its existence, BOVSL has become another success story for the BoV Group.

He stressed that this was only possible through the hard work of all the people involved and maintained that people were the most valuable asset of the group.

Mike Dempsey, a guest speaker from ITD Capital in London, dealt with the various aspects of the foreign bond markets. Eileen Muscat, general manager of the Malta Stock Exchange, explained the new role of the exchange now that it has shed its regulatory function.

Other speakers were Stephen Borg, Patrick Spiteri Swain and Frank Chetcuti Dimech. They addressed various topics, including an overview of the local market, interest rates and the impact to EU membership on investment services.

During the conference, Franco Xuereb, general manager BOVSL, gave an overview of the company's performance and announced that they will shortly be moving offices to St John Square in Valletta.
