Bank of Valletta sold 10,000 mini kits during the first day of the sale of the Maltese euro coins, the bank said.

"We expect the sale of mini-kits to exceed the 16,000 mark by close of business today," John Cassar Torreggiani, Executive Head responsible for the euro changeover programme at Bank of Valletta said.

The mini kits of the equivalent of Lm5 became available on Monday following the kits for retailers, which started being sold on December 1. BOV said 13,000 retailer kits have been sold or ordered so far.
