Bank of Valletta was closed for business for a short time this morning.

The bank said in a statement it had to close temporarily following a minor fault in the air-conditioning system because of a power surge.

It said health and safety procedures were followed and customers and employees were evacuated from the branch. Nobody was injured in the incident and no material damage was sustained.

The branch is now operating in the usual manner.
