A new book of Manuel Dimech aphorisms, edited by Mark Montebello and Francis Galea, will go on sale on November 10.

The book Aphorisms: Wisdom of a philosopher in exile, includes original aphorisms by Manuel Dimech following two historic finds, one in 2002 and one in 2009.

In 2002, Dimech’s aphorisms as written out by Juan Mamo were found and in 2009, the aphorisms in English were found in Dimech’s own authentic writing in the margins of a book about Japanese grammar.

These were written in the last three years of Dimech’s life between 1917 and 1920 when exiled in Egypt.

This was announced this morning by Fr Montebello and Mr Galea when addressing a news conference outside Dimech's birthplace in Valletta, where a plaque is going to be commemorated by President George Abela on November 10.

The house is opposite the one Nerik Mizzi died at in St John Street.
