The university campus was briefly evacuated this evening after a bomb warning which turned out to be a hoax.

The warning was made by telephone to a university security officer at about 8.30 p.m. and several buildings including Students' House were evacuated and cordoned off by the police who went around the area with sniffer dogs.

The explosive ordnance disposal unit of the AFM was also on the scene. The alarm was called off at about 10.30 p.m.
