Usain Bolt ran the fourth-fastest 200m ever clocked last weekend, winning in 19.56 seconds at the Jamaica International Invitational.

Bolt, who sizzled through the first 100 in 10.1 seconds, trailed only his world record of 19.19 for a world title at Berlin, his 19.30 for 2008 Beijing Olympic gold and the former world record of 19.32 by Michael Johnson.

Bolt said the victory "puts me in a good stand for the season because I'm about 95 per cent. I still have a lot of work to do."

American Wallace Spearmon was second in 19.98 but a far cry from Bolt's devastating form.

Bolt was pleased with his time, but warned fans must not expect any world record run this season.

"I just went out there to see where I'm at and to get my confidence," Bolt said.

"I'm not trying to break any record this year but I had to come out here and put on a show for Jamaica because I missed last year's meet."

In the women's event, Veronica Campbell-Brown ran 22.60 to beat Cayman Islands' Cydonie Mothersill, who came in with a late rush for second in 22.70.

American Carmerlita Jeter won the women's 100m in a world-leading 10.94 seconds, edging out Jamaican Kerron Stewart.
