A car caught fire as it was being driven in St Ignatius Street Sliema, last night, with the flames spreading to a nearby parked car.

The incident happened at about 1.30am.

The blaze started in the car's engine, with the driver stopping immediately and even putting on his hazard lights before getting out.

An eyewitness said a fire crew was on the scene in about 10 minutes.

Both cars were extensively damaged but no one was hurt.
