No one was injured when a small explosive device blew up outside a boathouse near Torri l-Abjad in Marfa late yesterday.

The blast was heard at about 11.30 p.m.

Two men who had been staying in the boathouse escaped unscathed. The blast brought down a sun shade and damaged some beach furniture in a porch.

The police said the boathouse belonged to a 40-year-old man from Tarxien who yesterday was at a barbeque outside the boathouse with a 31-year-old man from Qormi.

They told the police that they noticed a mobile phone connected to a box in front of the boathouse.

They immediately drove off in their vehicles, a Peugeot 206 and a Landrover Freelander and heard the blast go off.

The police are investigating.
