Għajnsielem obtained a convincing 4-1 win over Nadur Youngsters to join Victoria Hotpsurs at the top, with the latter, however, having a game in hand. Nadur are now out of the contention.

Għajnsielem enjoyed territorial command in the initial stages and took a deserved lead two minutes from the break through a header by Joseph Attard following a cross by Frank Lee Galea.

Nadur hit back immediately and in first-half added time Anthony Portelli profited from a blunder inside the Għajnsielem half to make it one-all.

The Youngsters looked the better team after the restart and had a goal by Andre De Souza disallowed for offside. On another occasion a Portelli shot was saved with difficulty by keeper Joseph Grech.

However, Għajnsielem regained the lead on 68 minutes through a tap-in by Ferdinando Apap following a cross by Joseph Attard.

Nadur were shocked and on 77 minutes Thiago dos Santos increased the Blacks' lead with a fine strike after a fine solo move.

Two minutes later Għajnsielem made sure of the points with a fourth goal scored by Kenneth Mercieca following a pass by Brian Meilak.

Nadur ended the match on a negative note as they had De Souza sent off in the second minute of stoppage time for a second bookable offence.

In another match from the top flight, SK Victoria Wanderers beat Xewkija Tigers 2-0 to move closer to survival.

Xewkija had several players missing due to suspensions and injuries. However, they resisted well and also had a goal by Andreas Fotso, following a fast break by Joseph Hili, disallowed for an infringement.

Victoria's win matured with two quick goals in the early stages of the second period. They opened the scoring on 48 minutes through Manwel Cordina, now sharing the leadership in the scorers' list table with Claudio Antunes on 18 goals, and Ajibade Adesina a minute later.

Xewkija keeper Joseph Grima then made two fine saves from efforts by Manwel Cordina and Ajibade Adesina .

St Lawrence Spurs Div. Two champs

St Lawrence Spurs secured the Division Two title after a 3-1 win over Munxar Falcons.

This was the penultimate match of the campaign for the Spurs and they were determined to win this encounter to eliminate the risk of facing second-placed Xagħra United in a potential decider.

The Saints opened a two-goal lead, thanks to goals by player-coach Gothard Conti, and made sure of the victory with a goal by Shaun Muscat on 50 minutes.

Munxar scored a consolation goal on 78 minutes through substitute Donald Borg. The Saints ended the match with 10 players as Paul Anthony Attard was sent off 10 minutes from time but at the final whistle the players, officials and supporters got the title party going.

Żebbuġ missed a golden opportunity to consolidate third spot as they were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw by Għarb Rangers.

Għarb surprised their opponents with two goals from a Harry Cassar penalty and a Roberto Sacco strike.

However, the Rovers hit back strongly after the break.

Sylvan Galea reduced the arrears on 63 minutes and clinched the equaliser with a Josmar Farrugia goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time following a corner. Għarb claimed the ball did not cross the line but Farrugia's goal was to stand.
