Clentec Limited has filed a judicial protest against the government after it was blacklisted by the government and excluded from public contracts.

The blacklisting was announced on Monday, when the government said the action had been taken against it and another company, Gafa Saveways, because of precarious working conditions for their workers.

The blacklisting of Gafa Saveways was suspended a few hours later.

In a statement today, Clentec said it vehemently denied the false allegation int he government statement that the company or its directors have been found guilty of employing workers on public contracts in poor working conditions which amounted to precarious work.

"Clentec Limited would like to express its utmost disappointment in relation to the unprofessional and arbitrary manner in which the Director General (Contracts) arrived at his decision."

Clentec said it had filed an urgent judicial protest in the First Hall Civil Court holding the Director General (Contracts) responsible for all damages incurred or that may be incurred in future by the company as a result of his negligence and/or irresponsibility as well as giving him two days to revoke his decision to exclude Clentec Limited from public contracts.

"Clentec Limited was one of the first companies to approach trade unions in Malta in an attempt to combat precarious work and will not allow anyone to tarnish its impeccable reputation in the cleaning services sector, particularly when this is being caused as a result of the incompetence, negligence and irresponsibility of third parties," the company said.
