Another figure in the Bisazza Street monument to Maltese actors has lost its head.

The ceramic head of Victor Apap crashed to the ground late this morning, and an eyewitness said it was not vandalism.

"A person was about to sit on the empty chair on the monument when the head crashed down," the eyewitness said.

The head of the statue of actor Charles Clews was smashed last week in what was thought to be a case of vandalism.

The statue, which looks like bronze, forms part of a structure that features actors Ġemma Portelli, Charles Clews and Victor Apap sitting around a table with a fourth empty seat for any passers-by shopping in the busy Sliema centre.

The company that had produced the monument, Mediterranean Ceramics, quickly replaced the Charles Clews head as it had another model of the head, which had been made during the sculpting process.

The handcrafted monument, which took about three months to complete, has proved to be quite popular and was constantly photographed by tourists and Maltese alike.
