The Bishops of Malta and Gozo in a joint statement have called for prayers for persecuted Christians.

Archbishop Paul Cremona and Bishops Mario Grech and Charles Scicluna expressed their concern about the persecution of Christians in various countries, particularly Iraq, where hundreds have been forced to flee their homes.

The bishops reiterated the call made by Pope Francis for reconciliation, insisting that violence can only be overcome with peace. The bishops called for prayers and solidarity through donations to help those people who have lost everything.

Offers may be made in parish offices and they will be shipped to Iraq.
