Birkirkara and Tarxien Rainbows fought out a goalless draw in a drab encounter at the Hibs Stadium today.

It was no surprise that this match ended in a draw as both teams after a lively opening 45 minutes failed to keep the momentum going after the interval with poor distribution of the ball hampering their chances of breaking the stalemate.

Birkirkara had the best chance of the match on 80 minutes when Emiliano Lattes raced clear on the right before sending a low cross towards substitute Terrence Vella who incredibly fired wide with an open goal at his mercy.

Tarxien on their part also could have won it late on when first Cristiano surged into the area from the right but his low drive flashed just wide.

Then it was Anonam who almost scored for the Rainbows, when from a Mark Tanti free-kick he managed to anticipate Birkirkara goalkeeper Michael Fraser but the Nigerian player was blocked just as he was going to push the ball into an empty net.

Birkirkara’s Emiliano Lattes was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
