The fourth day of the local women's championship saw Birkirkara notching their second victory in as many matches when they crushed newcomers Sta Venera 9-0.
Melita returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 defeat of Raiders.
In the opening game at the Pace Grasso Ground on Sunday, Birkirkara met no difficulty in beating Sta Venera.
Although the Saints defended more solidly than they had done in their opening 17-0 upset to Hibs, their efforts were not enough to prevent another drubbing.
The Stripes were in control of proceedings for most of the match. Sta Venera had only one goalscoring opportunity, an Orienne Cassar free-kick that sailed straight into the Stripes defensive wall before the ball was cleared away.
Birkirkara pounded the Saints defence right from the start, building a 4-0 first-half lead before adding five more goals in the second period.
The Stripes' goals were scored by Eleonora Agliano (4), Sacha Camilleri, Catherine Camilleri, Deborah Pisani, Rebecca D'Agostino and Chantalle Demanuele.
Melita also chalked up their second league win at the expense of Raiders. The match turned out to be a balanced affair with Melita creating the first dangerous opportunity on eight minutes when Roberta Girard's shot was cleared off the line by Claudia Borg.
Raiders responded five minutes later when Graziella Vella sent in a through pass to Amanda Atkins who, however, paused, thinking that she was in an offside position. Melita took advantage of her hesitancy to recover possession.
In the 25th minute, Melita scored the goal that mattered. Kelly Pace Agius retrieved possession in midfield, ran through the Raiders defence before placing the ball past the onrushing Raiders goalkeeper Sonia Farrugia.
Raiders had an excellent chance to draw level ten minutes from time when they were awarded a penalty after Atkins was fouled in the area by Leona Tabone. Atkins took the penalty but her shot was well saved by Simone Zammit.
