Birkirkara 4 Vittoriosa Stars 0

Birkirkara eased through to the fourth round of the U*Bet FA Trophy with a comfortable victory against first division side Vittoriosa Stars.

Birkirkara dominated from the start and Gareth Sciberras hit the woodwork with a neat and shot at the edge of the box after a slick move in the12th minute.

The Stripes continued to exert pressure without too much effort and converted that dominance into an opening goal on the quarter of the hour mark. Sciberras squared a cross to Ryan Scicluna on the right flank and the defender's step-over gave Haruna Shola-Shodiya the opportunity to chip the ball over the Stars goalkeeper.

On the half hour mark, it was 2-0 when Sciberras finally managed to put his name on the score sheet when Avila broke raced to the byline before he crossed for the former Marsaxlokk midfielder to plant a simple header past Ivan Cassar and into the net.

Birkirkara continued in the same vein in the second half and Shawn Bajada soon ended any remaining hopes the Stars had after 56 minutes, when he hit a wildly swerving screamer from 30 metres that left Cassar standing still and looking puzzled.

Avila rubbed salt into the Stars wounds with the last kick of the match when he smashed Trevor Cilia's cross first time low into the corner.
