Melita 0 Birkirkara 3 Camenzuli 33; Sciberras 50, 65

Birkirkara have temporarily moved above Valletta at the top of the Premier League standings after coasting past Melita in a one-sided encounter at the Tedesco Stadium.

Scoring chances were at a premium and after eight minutes Mifsud Triganza drifted infield from the flank and squared the ball for Jhonnattan but his low drive skimmed the base of the upright.

Seven minutes later, Luke Sammut failed to make a meaningful connection with Vukanic's teasing shot much to the frustration of the Melita bench.

It was not long before the Stripes reclaimed the intiative and took the lead just after the half-hour mark. Jhonnattann advanced on the left before dragging a dangerous cross into the box for Camenzuli who scored with a low angled shot.

That goal was a setback for Melita but they regrouped and threatened after 39 minutes. Striker Galea drifted the ball into the path of Ivan Tufegdzic who headed it to Manuel Sierra Camacho, only for the Spaniard to shot just wide.

Birkirkara were clearly the better side, however, and doubled their lead after 50 minutes through Scibberas, who fired the ball between the legs of onrushing Matthew Sapiano, after being released by Mifsud Triganza.

Then receiving a pass from Jhonnattann deep into the Melita's half, Mifsud Triganza turned adroitly around Sapiano but the striker hit badly with the goal at mercy.

Yet the precocious talent of Sciberras piled more misery on Melita. Zach Muscat escaped down the right flank before releasing Sciberras. His right foot is lethal but he preferred to switch the ball on the left one to send in an exquisitie lob into the net after 65 minutes.

The side from St. Julian's were having trouble to contain Jhonnattann's marauding runs from midfield. The Brazilian bore down on goal through the middle before releasing Fenech who ran himself into a tight position but his shot was saved by Sapiano.
