Birkirkara - 2, Msida St Joseph - 1

Birkirkara were back to winning ways after they battled past Msida St Joseph 2-1 to move just one point behind leaders Valletta.

It was Msida who took a surprise lead after 20 minutes when Kevin Mifsud put Ndayi Kalenga clean through and the Nigerian forward slid the ball past Birkirkara goalkeeper Jorge Mora.

The Stripes looked stunned by this early setback and only managed to draw level on 47 minutes when Michael Galea’s fierce drive from outside the area gave no chance to Msida goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo.

Barely two minutes later, Birkirkara struck again when Thomas Paris fed Karl Pulo and the Stripes midfielder turned past his marker before firing the ball past Bartolo.

Birkirkara’s Karl Pulo was voted as the BOV Player of the Match.
