The Mixed League started its second round with another two fixtures, both of which lived up to their anticipated outcome.

In the first match, played at the University Sports Complex, Birkirkara Medairco 'A' brushed aside the challenge put up by Shuttles BC with an unequivocal 8-0 win. This positive result enabled them to retain their place at the top of the table while preserving their three-point lead.

Jacqueline De Giovanni, Rachel Attard, Aldo Polidano, Konrad Degabriele, Robert and Stefan Salomone were the players behind this victory for the Birkirkara 'A' squad. Shuttles BC tried hard to bridge the gap with their opponents but Birkirkara's technical superiority was too much for them.

In the other match of the day, played at St Martin's College, Pawla Wolves Schtag did not have to strive hard to overcome Birkirkara Medairco 'B' whom they similarly defeated 8-0.

This result enables them to retain their second placing, three points adrift of the league leaders.

Jennifer Borg, Catherine Dimech, Oliver Mallia, David Cole, Joakim Boholm and Edmond Abela were the catalysts behind this Wolves' victory.

Birkirkara Medairco 'B' did their utmost to give the Wolves a good run for their money. However, their efforts remained fruitless as Pawla Wolves' tactical superiority saw them through.

The Mixed League table reads: Birkirkara Medairco 'A' 16 points; Pawla Wolves Schtag 13; Birkirkara 'B' 7; Shuttle BC 4.

The Mixed League competition will continue on March 23. In the first match, Shuttles BC will play against Pawla Wolves Schtag at the University Sports Complex.

The second fixture will see the intra-club derby between Birkirkara Medairco 'A' and Birkirkara 'B' at St Martin's College. Both matches start at 9.30 a.m.
