I refer (once again, with regret) to Martin Scicluna’s piece on the Irish abortion referendum and his friend’s (and my friend, if I may say so as a bigot and a hypocrite) Peter Apap Bologna’s letter, facing each other on separate pages of this newspaper on April 30.

As for Scicluna, all I can say is that he can now be confirmed as Labour’s English-refined version of Eddy Privitera, a cut above the latter, of course. His treatment of the Irish abortion plebiscite and his Labour Party’s incoherent and messy IVF Bill is clearly laying the ground for the introduction of abortion, something which, contrary to what the real hypocrites say, I, for one, am convinced is deeply engraved on Labour’s agenda. Meanwhile, Privitera continues to attempt to jump on Scicluna’s bandwagon.

In this difficult task I wish him luck. After all, I am sure Privitera does come from an old Maltese family, as Scicluna and Apap Bologna do. But do we need to qualify the “family” as “Maltese” or would we otherwise assume it was “English”.

I can assure Apap Bologna that most bigots and hypocrites do come from old Maltese families, though, perhaps, humble and genuine, if not noble. But though they may not be noble in blood, they are truly noble in cause, unlike others “who should know better”.

I wish him bon appétit (French) and hope he can manage to continue enjoying his breakfasts in Scicluna’s company.
