The number of Maltese residing abroad who applied to come to Malta on cheap flights to vote on April 11 has already surpassed the number for previous electoral appointments, with applications still open.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis, who is also responsible for Air Malta, which will be operating the flights on its regular schedule, said the €70 price tag had been decided on current market prices, with a view to making the flights attractive.

Dr Zammit Lewis was answering Opposition MP Chris Said.
