Enemalta has defended a contract awarded to Joseph Mizzi for the purchase of 10 trucks. The corporation was last week criticised over the contract by Joseph Muscat, who noted that Mr Mizzi was also the local representative of BWSC, which won the contract for the extension of the power station.

In a statement, Enemalta said the tender in question was issued by the Department of Contracts.

The contract was awarded on March 23 to CO.ME.T Sas since it submitted the cheapest offer by far.

The total cost of this tender was €497,000 and not €650,000 as erroneously quoted by Dr. Muscat, the corporation said.
