The annual rate of inflation based on the Retail Price Index last month stood at 1.08 per cent, the National Statistics Office said.

The rate a year earlier was 1.84 per cent, it said. In January it was 0.65 per cent.

The NSO said the largest upward impacts on annual inflation were recorded in the beverages and tobacco index, the recreation and culture index and the household equipment and house maintenance cost index, mainly due to price rises in cigarettes, books and furniture items.

A downward impact was recorded in the other goods and services index mainly due to jewellery items.

The twelve-month moving average rate was 1.17 per cent.
